A 20-year-old US marine has been arrested for the robbery and murder of a woman in Okinawa, Japan.

Police say Devin Jacob Ballard allegedly killed 39-year-old Anna Yagi in a hotel room. Security footage allegedly shows a man believed to be the suspect entering the hotel with the Yagi and leaving alone with her belongings.

Ballard denied the allegations, telling police: “I don’t know anything.”

For many Okinawa locals, the arrest has reignited decades of frustration over crimes involving US military personnel.
