Lighting can completely change the mood of a photo, and soon you might be able to control it long after you’ve taken the shot 👀

At Adobe MAX this week, they showed off something pretty incredible during their MAX Sneaks event in LA called Project Light Touch. It’s an experimental Photoshop feature that uses AI to relight your photos. You can move the light direction, change how intense it is, and even control how it interacts with different parts of the image, almost like you’re adjusting a real studio setup.

MAX Sneaks is where Adobe gives a peek at the experimental projects they’re working on. None of these are guaranteed to be released, but if enough people get excited about them, they often become real tools in future updates.

I couldn’t make it to LA this year because of other commitments, but I watched the whole thing online and it was packed with wild new ideas. Seeing what the future of Photoshop could look like is always such a reminder of how quickly design tools are evolving right now.

When AI is used in ways like this, I’m totally on board.

If this feature actually drops, it could completely change how we edit lighting in portraits and product shots. Imagine being able to fix bad lighting after the shoot without touching a single layer mask.
