Can the BMW M5 Touring haul a giant TV? We skipped the usual Costco run and tried something bigger.

The new M5 Touring is BMW's first M5 wagon sold in the US, and it promises supercar speed with real family car practicality. So we put that to the test with an old plasma TV that's big, heavy, and chunky. No measuring beforehand, just a first try.

Before loading up, we walk through the numbers. The M5 Touring offers 27.2 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats up and 67.0 cubic feet with them folded. That's more than a BMW X1 and X6 with the seats down, and nearly identical to the new X3. We also show how the rear seats fold and why the load floor isn't completely flat.

Then comes the real test: does the TV fit, and does it survive an hour of driving on different roads?
