😳 Oliver Solberg came within sight of a maiden WRC title before one final-stage mistake handed the 2026 championship to Elfyn Evans.

Solberg entered Rally Italia Sardegna 21 points behind Evans, but a huge weekend brought the title fight all the way down to the final Wolf Power Stage.

By Sunday, whoever was faster between the two Toyota teammates on that last stage would effectively decide the championship.

Solberg was pushing for the time he needed when he went off near the end of the stage, ending his title bid just moments from the finish.

Evans held on to become World Rally Champion for the first time, while Solberg still won the rally and finished the season as championship runner-up.
