Which Gen is best⁉️🔥 51 years separate the original E21 BMW 3 Series from the new G50, but BMW is still chasing the same basic formula: a compact, driver-focused sports sedan with everyday usability.

The E21 launched the 3 Series in 1975 with rear-wheel drive, compact dimensions, a cockpit angled toward the driver, and engines ranging from four-cylinders to the later six-cylinder 323i.

BMW says more than 20 million 3 Series have been sold since that first generation arrived, making it one of the most important nameplates in the company’s history.

The new eighth-generation G50 brings the 3 Series into BMW’s Neue Klasse era with completely redesigned styling, a much more digital cabin, and both electric and gasoline powertrains.

At the top of the electric range, the new i3 50 xDrive is rated at 463 hp with dual-motor all-wheel drive and an estimated range of up to 468 miles.

Visually, the jump from the upright E21 with round headlights and tiny kidney grilles to the ultra-low, wide G50 front end shows just how dramatically the 3 Series has evolved while retaining recognizable BMW cues.
