Who’s in the wrong? 🤔🔥 The Mustang vs. Corvette rivalry in IMSA has turned personal in 2026, with multiple races ending in direct contact between Ford and Chevrolet’s GTD PRO contenders.
⠀
It started heating up at Laguna Seca in May, where the No. 65 Ford Mustang GT3 beat the No. 4 Corvette Z06 GT3.R by just 1.277 seconds for the class win.
⠀
Then at Watkins Glen in June, Nicky Catsburg’s No. 4 Corvette made contact with Christopher Mies in the No. 65 Mustang on the penultimate lap, sending the Ford hard into the barriers and earning the Corvette a post-race penalty.
⠀
At Indianapolis in September, the roles started reversing when Dennis Olsen’s No. 64 Mustang and Catsburg’s Corvette went door-to-door for the win, with contact sending the Corvette into the grass while Ford took victory.
⠀
Then came Petit Le Mans, where Olsen’s No. 64 Mustang shouldered the championship-leading No. 4 Corvette into the Turn 10 gravel, costing Catsburg a lap and effectively ending Corvette’s title hopes.
⠀
The irony is hard to miss: Corvette took out a Mustang earlier in the year, and by the season finale a Mustang played a major role in knocking Corvette out of the championship fight.
⠀
Is this becoming the best manufacturer rivalry in IMSA?
