Gran Turismo tells the unbelievable true story of Jann Mardenborough, who went from racing on a PlayStation to competing in real professional motorsport.

In 2011, Mardenborough entered Nissan and PlayStation’s GT Academy competition through Gran Turismo 5 despite having no traditional racing background.

He beat more than 90,000 entrants from across Europe and won the final at Silverstone, earning a real-world driver development program with Nissan.

Just two years later, he competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and finished third in the LMP2 class on his debut.

The 2023 movie dramatizes parts of his journey, but the core story of a gamer becoming a professional racing driver actually happened.

Mardenborough also worked on the film as a consultant, co-producer and stunt driver, helping bring his own story to the screen.
