🇨🇳 Porsche 911 GT3 owners have discovered BYD-linked Chinese batteries hiding inside their German sports cars.
⠀
Photos shared by 992.2 GT3 Touring owners show factory-installed 12V lithium-ion batteries carrying FinDreams branding, a battery company within the BYD ecosystem, with labels identifying manufacturing in China.
⠀
Porsche itself confirms that the latest 911 GT3 comes standard with a lightweight 40-Ah lithium-ion battery as part of its aggressive weight-saving program.
⠀
Combined with the GT3’s carbon-fiber front luggage-compartment lid, Porsche says the lightweight measures save around 4 kg compared with the previous model.
⠀
The interesting part is that Porsche does not publicly identify BYD as the universal battery supplier, so the evidence currently establishes that BYD/FinDreams units have appeared in customer GT3s, not necessarily that every new GT3 receives one.
⠀
It’s also a reminder of how global modern performance-car supply chains have become, even when the badge on the hood is one of Germany’s most recognizable.
⠀
Would finding a Chinese-made BYD component inside your new Porsche GT3 actually bother you?
⠀
What are your thoughts? 🤔💭
