Old or New Pixar? 🔥🚗 Pixar in 2006 really gave us one of the most iconic racing movies ever made.
⠀
Cars introduced Lightning McQueen as a rookie race car chasing the Piston Cup before an unexpected detour through Radiator Springs completely changed his priorities.
⠀
Pixar released the film on June 9, 2006, and it went on to become one of the studio’s most enduring franchises.
⠀
The movie stood out by treating its car characters like actual athletes, complete with racing rivalries, pit crews, sponsors and a world built entirely around automotive culture.
⠀
Twenty years later, Cars still holds a special place with enthusiasts who grew up watching Lightning McQueen, Doc Hudson, Mater and the rest of Radiator Springs.
⠀
Seeing footage from Cars next to Pixar’s 2026 releases really shows how strongly this movie still resonates with an entire generation.
⠀
Was Cars peak Pixar for automotive enthusiasts?
