Would you watch a full Fast & Furious movie in this style? 🤔🎬 The final Supra vs. Charger race from The Fast and the Furious was recreated almost shot-for-shot using miniature cars and practical effects.
⠀
The project used 1:24-scale versions of Brian O’Conner’s orange Toyota Supra and Dominic Toretto’s black 1970 Dodge Charger.
⠀
The team built a miniature recreation of the Port of Los Angeles setting, complete with the railroad crossing, road surfaces, barriers and surrounding details.
⠀
Instead of relying on full CGI, the sequence was filmed physically with miniature sets, moving vehicles and practical effects, with only minor smoke and lighting work added afterward.
⠀
Some of the action was captured at 120 and 240 frames per second to make the small-scale movement feel much heavier and more realistic on screen.
⠀
The result recreates the famous race toward the railroad crossing and the Charger’s violent crash while giving viewers a look at how old-school miniature filmmaking can still create convincing action.
⠀
Would you rather watch practical miniature effects like this or a fully CGI recreation?
