🚙 Toyota just recreated one of Top Gear’s most famous Hilux torture tests by dropping a 760 kg caravan directly onto the new all-electric Hilux.

The caravan was lifted roughly 30 feet into the air at Bentwaters Airfield in Suffolk before being released onto the pickup’s cab.

After the impact, Toyota says the Hilux suffered only relatively modest body damage, powered up immediately and drove away under its own power.

The stunt was chosen after Toyota asked Reddit users whether they wanted to see the truck face a caravan drop or repeated hits from a one-tonne wrecking ball.

It was a direct tribute to Top Gear’s legendary 2003 Hilux destruction tests, where the older truck survived a series of increasingly brutal challenges.

The fact that Toyota chose the new battery-electric Hilux for the recreation was meant to show that electrification has not changed the model’s reputation for durability.
