2027 SWE interview intel on AI coding interviews 👀 s/o to my #sponsor @trycognition for part 2 of my AI-assisted coding interview series 🙏

AI-assisted coding rounds, debugging, and codebase navigation are starting to show up in software engineering interviews. I’ve been talking a lot about how CS students can actually prepare for this shift, and one of the biggest changes IMO is that these interviews can test a lot more than data structures & algorithms.

My followers have reported needing to understand existing codebases, give AI agents the right context, investigate bugs, implement features, write tests, and explain the trade-offs behind their decisions.

And that’s why I wanted to show you how I actually use Devin. I often use Devin through Slack on real coding tasks to investigate issues, identify root causes, and build features. IMO, practicing this kind of workflow is a much more realistic way to build AI-assisted software engineering skills than writing one-off prompts in a chatbot.

The thing I’d keep in mind for these interviews is that AI can help write the code, but you still need to understand what it did, evaluate the result, and take responsibility for what you ship.

You can check out Devin at the link in my bio! And comment "AI assisted coding" for my thoughts on the different variations of these interviews that I've seen. Part 3 coming on the way 👀
