Kevin Durant kept it simple when he was asked about Victor Wembanyama’s stance against sports-betting partnerships and KD’s own relationship with FanDuel. Wemby made it clear he personally wouldn’t promote a betting company, saying he believes athletes should think about the influence they have on fans.

Durant didn’t argue with Victor Wembanyama or try to justify his own decisions: “That’s Wemby, he’s going to do what he does. That has nothing to do with me… People gonna do what they want to do.” Basically, KD respects Wemby making his own choice while standing on his own decisions too. 🤝

Durant’s connection with FanDuel actually goes back to 2022 through Boardroom, the sports-business media company he co-founded with Rich Kleiman. Boardroom signed a multi-year exclusive partnership with FanDuel, making FanDuel its exclusive sports betting, fantasy sports, horse racing, gaming, casino and poker partner — as well as its official odds provider. The agreement includes content across social media, video, audio and editorial, plus FanDuel-sponsored programming and collaborations.

The relationship has continued beyond the original announcement too. Kevin Durant has appeared in FanDuel-backed Boardroom programming, including Boardroom Talks Live, and has participated in football-related FanDuel content such as sharing NFL picks through Up & Adams. So while Victor Wembanyama has drawn a hard line against betting endorsements, KD’s approach is basically that everyone can make their own decision — and he’s standing on his. 💰🏀
