When Ron Biles got a call from a social worker about four children who had just entered foster care, he didn’t ask what happened or what it would cost.

He simply said, “Send them to me.”

He already had children of his own. He wasn’t looking to start over. But three-year-old Simone and her siblings came into his life anyway.

The situation wasn’t simple. The children returned to Ohio when their biological mother tried to get sober. When that failed, the courts eventually made the arrangement permanent.

Even then, the siblings were split between family members. Simone and her sister came home to Texas with Ron and Nellie.

Years later, when Simone was outgrowing her gym, Nellie didn’t wait for someone else to solve the problem.

She used the business she had spent decades building to create a 52,000-square-foot training facility, complete with a school.

Nellie never missed a practice. Ron and Nellie were in the stands for every Olympics and World Championships they could attend except Tokyo, where COVID restrictions kept parents out.
