Spain's parliament has rejected the first of two government measures aimed at tackling a housing crisis that has spurred nationwide protests.⁣
⁣
The result of Friday's vote (October 2) is a heavy political blow to Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, and was met with cries of "shame!" by hundreds of protesters outside parliament. ⁣
⁣
Politicians voted 178 against, and 172 in favor of, the government measure.⁣
