Helen Zille, 75, a white politician nicknamed "gogo' meaning grandmother, is running for mayor of Johannesburg in a race analysts say could reshape South African politics. ⁣
⁣
Zille, who previously served as mayor of Cape Town and premier of the Western Cape, is campaigning on a platform to "fix" Johannesburg. She has drawn widespread attention through viral videos that feature her swimming in potholes and paddling down flooded roads. Her entry into the contest challenges the ruling African National Congress (ANC) coalition.⁣
