Friday’s International Day of Non-Violence highlights the remarkable power of peaceful protest.

The day marks the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, a leader who remained committed to the principle of non-violence, even in the most difficult circumstances.

"In these highly charged times, let’s summon the courage, empathy, dignity and shared humanity that Gandhi exemplified throughout his life,” says #UnitedNations Secretary-General antonioguterres.

“Let’s work to heal divisions through genuine dialogue and diplomacy, end suffering, and build a peaceful world through non-violence.”
