📍SIGONELLA, Italy — Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John Perryman visited Naval Air Station Sigonella Oct. 5, meeting with Sailors, touring naval aviation assets and fielding questions during an All Hands Call attended by more than 500 Sailors.

The visit marked the pair’s first stop on a six-day trip to the U.S. European Command area of operations, providing an opportunity to hear directly from Sailors supporting naval operations in the region.

“The strength of our Navy starts with our Sailors,” said Caudle who takes pride in being called a “Sailors First CNO.” “Being here in Sigonella gives us an opportunity to see their work firsthand, hear what they need and understand how decisions made in Washington affect the people carrying out the mission.”

Caudle and Perryman met with Sailors and toured helicopters and a P-8 assigned to Commander, Task Force 67. They also visited Unmanned Patrol Squadron 19, getting a firsthand look at the personnel and aviation capabilities supporting the fleet.
