Hundreds of contractors working on Microsoft Copilot’s image-editing system are reportedly reviewing users’ prompts, original photos and AI-generated edits to evaluate how well the system follows instructions. Some reviewers said they encountered highly sensitive and sexual content, with faces sometimes left unblurred.

Microsoft does disclose that trained AI experts and external organizations may review Copilot conversations and that human feedback is used to improve the system’s accuracy and safety. The company also advises users not to share confidential or sensitive personal information they would not want reviewed.

The contractors’ role is primarily quality evaluation: checking whether Copilot followed the user’s instructions, preserved the parts of an image that weren’t supposed to change and produced a technically acceptable result. 👁️🤖
