## Caption

There are some stories that are incredibly difficult to tell — but too important not to share. Some things are bigger than golf.

The two brothers in this photo are Joseph (left) and Jason, a good friend of BGC (right).

In 2024, Joseph tragically passed away, far too soon, after a long struggle with mental illness.

To his family Joseph was quiet, kind, a little nerdy, and someone with an enormous heart. Looking at this photo, you simply see two brothers standing together on a beautiful day. You don’t see the pain that can exist beneath the surface.

For Jason, Joseph wasn’t only his big brother. He was his best friend. His loss left a hole in his family that can never truly be filled. But Jason is trying to make sure Joseph’s story doesn’t end with that loss.

In his brother’s honor, Jason is hosting a local golf outing benefiting hope_refuge, an organization dedicated to improving mental-health awareness among men, creating space for men to tell their stories, and reminding those who may be struggling silently that they don’t have to carry everything alone.

This outing is about more than golf.

It’s about Joseph, and millions of other men who silently struggle with mental illness.

It’s about the brother, father, son, husband, coworker or friend who tells everyone he’s fine when he isn’t.

It’s about making conversations about men’s mental health a little easier to start — and helping prevent another family from experiencing the loss Jason and his family have endured.

If you’re able, please consider donating and supporting Jason’s fundraiser and Building a Refuge. Every contribution helps them continue this mission and honor Joseph’s memory by helping others.

And if donating isn’t possible, please share this post. That costs nothing, and it may put this message in front of someone who needs to see it.

Appreciate you time, much love.
