It's #SnakeWeek and this year wild Snake River steelhead and salmon populations are at historic lows. 

The reason why? The four lower Snake River dams turned a once free-flowing Snake River into 140 miles of slow-moving reservoirs. 

Towns and businesses throughout the Snake River Basin depend on visiting anglers, and those communities struggle when fishing seasons are shortened or closed because of poor and undependable fish returns. 

For decades the science has been clear: wild salmon and steelhead, and the communities that rely on them, need a free-flowing lower Snake River to thrive.
