Sisyphus

<Long exposure light painting>

In Greek mythology, Sisyphus was a cunning king who repeatedly deceived the gods and even tried to escape death. As punishment, Zeus condemned him to an eternal task in the underworld: pushing a massive boulder up a hill, only for it to roll back down just before reaching the top. He must then begin again, forever.

The myth has become a symbol of endless, repetitive, seemingly meaningless struggle.
