I pointed it out on Twitter after the AP poll came out Sunday afternoon, but Pitt and Virginia Tech are getting HISTORICALLY screwed in the rankings.

4-0 Pitt and 4-0 Virginia Tech play each other on Friday night at Lane Stadium.

This is the first time in modern College Football history that two 4-0 teams in major conferences will play while neither of them is ranked in the AP Top 25.

Not only is neither team ranked, Virginia Tech is receiving votes at *#30* and Pitt is receiving votes at *#32.*

Decades and decades of precedent is being broken because VT and Pitt are being placed behind teams like:

• 3-1 Tennessee (best win is 1-3 GA Tech)
• 3-1 USC (best win is 1-3 Rutgers)
• 3-1 Missouri (best win is 1-2 Kansas)
• 3-1 Kentucky (lost by 28 POINTS to Alabama)

VT and Pitt both received fewer votes this week than PENN STATE, who has beaten ZERO Power 4 teams this year and just lost to Wisconsin at home (Wisconsin lost to Notre Dame by 28). Penn State’s most significant win is Marshall, who beat FCS Gardner-Webb by one point last week.

4-0 Pitt has two Power 4 wins (UCF, Syracuse), 4-0 Virginia Tech has two Power 4 wins (Maryland, Boston College), and they’re behind ELEVEN 1-loss teams that haven’t beaten two Power 4 opponents.
