On this #WorldTeachersDay, your Toronto Zoo is proudly celebrating educators, professors and teachers of all stripes who inspire curiosity, encourage discovery and help shape the next generation of conservation leaders 📚🌿

As part of our Guardians of Wild Strategic Plan (2025–2028), we know that connecting young people with wildlife, science and conservation is essential to building a future where people, wildlife and wild spaces thrive. Our goal is to create meaningful conservation science experiences for students across Toronto, York and Durham: experiences that can inspire a lifelong connection to the natural world.

That commitment is coming to life through your Zoo’s new Community Conservation Centre 🐢🦦

We’re getting closer to completing this transformational project, which will create new opportunities for conservation, education, research and community connection right here at your Toronto Zoo. Beginning in January 2027, we’re excited to welcome our academic partners from the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC), bringing students and researchers into dedicated classroom spaces and creating new opportunities to learn alongside the conservation work happening at your Zoo.

The Centre will also be home to important conservation work with Blanding’s turtles, while a new North American river otter habitat will help welcome guests and connect them with Canadian wildlife.

While we’re close to the finish line, we still need your help to bring this important project fully to life 💚

You can support the Community Conservation Centre through our fundraising partners at the Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy: wildlifeconservancy.ca

And our commitment to learning extends throughout the Zoo! We’re also proud to be home to Nature School, thanks to our partners at the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) 🌿
