Barack Obama is headed to Detroit, and the date is no accident.

On October 24, the day early voting opens in Michigan, Obama will campaign with Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed and gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson. The stop is part of a bigger push to unify centrist and progressive Democrats after a primary season that saw several establishment picks lose. It's also a chance for El-Sayed to strengthen his support with Black voters, following a similar Detroit visit from Kamala Harris earlier this month.

El-Sayed's message to supporters was short and sweet: "Get. Ready."
