The Trump administration is reportedly looking to rewrite Watergate, and historians say the tapes tell a very different story.

The DOJ is reviewing how the special prosecutor investigated Nixon, with a former Nixon aide pushing a presentation titled "Watergate as Lawfare." Meanwhile, allies like JD Vance are claiming "the deep state took down Richard Nixon." Historians call the evidence against Nixon "overwhelming," including recordings of Nixon himself discussing efforts to obstruct the investigation.

Critics say repainting Nixon as a victim is really about making the same case for Trump.
