The 2026 Mazda CX-30 is one of those vehicles that makes a lot of sense the more you look at it. It has the size and practicality of a small SUV, but still carries the proportions and styling of something that was actually designed to be fun to look at. The CX-30 has always had a pretty distinct presence on the road, and the 2026 model continues that with Mazda’s Kodo design language, clean body lines, sculpted surfaces and a stance that makes it look a little more athletic than your typical subcompact crossover. Under the hood, the CX-30 is powered by Mazda’s 2.5L Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine, producing 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque in the naturally aspirated models. More importantly for Canadian drivers, i-Activ AWD comes standard across the entire CX-30 lineup. That means you don’t have to jump to a higher trim just to get all-wheel drive when the weather turns into what we all know Canadian weather can be. Snow, rain, slush, gravel, freezing mornings, questionable roads in April... the CX-30 is built with those conditions in mind. And then there’s the way it drives. Mazda has always put a pretty big emphasis on making their vehicles feel like something you actually want to drive rather than simply something that gets you from one place to another. The CX-30 has responsive steering, predictable handling and Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control Plus system working in the background to help make the vehicle feel composed through corners and everyday driving. The interior is where the CX-30 really starts to separate itself from a lot of other vehicles in the segment. Rather than filling every inch of the cabin with buttons, screens and unnecessary design elements, Mazda went with a much cleaner approach. The dashboard is simple, the controls are placed where you expect them to be, and the overall cabin has a more driver-focused feel. Depending on the trim, you can get features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, a larger 10.25-inch centre display, a power moonroof, leather seating and even a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system. The CX-30 is also small enough to make everyday driving easy without feeling like you are driving something tiny. It fits into city parking spots, works well as a daily commuter and still gives you the flexibility of having five seats and the practicality of an SUV. It is basically the middle ground for someone who wants something more useful than a sedan but doesn’t necessarily want to drive a huge SUV around every day. For 2026, Mazda has also added some new Kuro styling options to the CX-30 lineup, bringing gloss black exterior accents, black badging, black wheels and a different interior treatment to give the vehicle a more aggressive look. And if you want something with considerably more punch, the CX-30 is also available with Mazda’s 2.5L turbo engine, producing up to 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque on premium fuel, paired with standard i-Activ AWD. So whether you’re looking for a small SUV for commuting around the city, something comfortable for longer drives, something capable of dealing with Canadian winters, or just a vehicle that actually looks good sitting in your driveway, the CX-30 manages to cover a pretty wide range without getting unnecessarily complicated. Small SUV. AWD. 2.5L engine. Mazda handling. Plenty of technology. Available turbo power. And a design that still looks just as good when you walk away from it as it did when you first saw it. The 2026 Mazda CX-30. Compact where it matters. Capable where it counts. And still very much a Mazda. #mazda #cx30 #mazdasuv #yegcars #yeg #skyactiv
