Today we celebrate 8 years of officially being Ayden’s family…but the truth is, I’ve been his mom for 11. ❤️
Before us, Ayden had already lived in 7 different foster homes. Seven. Different. Homes by age 4 😭🥺
We were number 8 and the last. I wish I could say that love magically erased everything that came before us. It didn’t. Adoption doesn’t work that way. There have been beautiful seasons and really hard ones. There have been moments when we understood each other perfectly and moments when we had to fight to understand each other at all.

We’ve grown together. We’ve learned each other. We’ve frustrated each other. 😂 We’ve had hard conversations, big feelings, tears, laughter, therapy, grace, do-overs and a whole lot of love. And through every version of our story, one thing has remained true: being Ayden’s mom has been worth it. Every single bit of it. He is incredibly smart, kind, funny, thoughtful and becoming more and more of his own person every day. And somehow, the little boy who came into our lives 11 years ago is now this teenager standing over me now, not too much tho 🙄😂

Happy 8th Familyversary, Ayden. I’d choose being your mom again and again and again. I love you son🥰
