🎬 Presented in the Un Certain Regard selection at #Cannes2026, Ton animal maternel (Forever Your Maternal Animal) earned its three actresses — Daniela Marin Navarro, Marina De Tavira and Mariangel Villegas — a joint Acting Prize.
For her second feature film, Costa Rican director Valentina Maurel, 1st Cinéf Prize laureate in 2017, once again explores emotional relationships, placing Elsa, her main character, in the position of someone returning to San José after a long journey. There, she finds a drifting sister, a mother absorbed in republishing the erotic poems of her youth, and a father obsessed with his romantic conquests…
A delicate and melancholic family portrait, Ton animal maternel is in French cinemas today! ✨
