Congratulations are in order! Yesterday, two Berlinale films celebrated success at the FIRST STEPS Awards 2026, one of Germany’s most important awards for emerging filmmakers.

“I Understand Your Displeasure” (Ich verstehe Ihren Unmut, Berlinale Panorama) directed by Kilian Armando Friedrich won in the Feature Film category.

“Sometimes, I Imagine Them All at a Party” (Was an Empfindsamkeit bleibt, Berlinale Forum) directed by Daniela Magnani Hüller received the award for Best Documentary.

We are delighted to see these remarkable films and their directors recognized, highlighting the strength and diversity of a new generation of German cinema.

Congratulations to all winners and film teams! 🎉🎬
