When an HBCU band hits the field, you feel it before you even hear the first note.

During Missy Elliott Day Weekend, missymisdemeanorelliott is bringing four standout marching bands to Norfolk for the HBCU Band Battle on October 18... with norfolkstateuniversity, officialvsutrojans, ecsuvikings and _hamptonu all chasing bragging rights and a chance to show who really owns the Yard.

But this is bigger than a battle. HBCU bands have carried generations of musical tradition, creativity and school pride onto the field... and this moment gives that culture a bigger platform to be celebrated at full volume.

#LetsDiscuss: How can major stages like this shape the future of HBCU bands? Drop your thoughts and tell us who you’ll be rooting for on October 18. 🥁🖤
