🇺🇸 SEC CHAIR PAUL ATKINS PROPOSES THE FIRST U.S. #BITCOIN AND CRYPTO RULEBOOK WITHOUT CLARITY 👀

Atkins says the SEC's newly proposed crypto custody framework is just one part of a much broader push to modernize U.S. financial regulation.

His message:
➡️ “Our work is not finished. More regulatory proposals are on the horizon.”

The SEC's latest proposal would create a "crypto-specific" custody framework for investment advisers and regulated funds giving them a compliant pathway to custody crypto assets.

Atkins says the broader push has already included:

✅ Crypto-specific custody rules proposed
✅ Regulation Crypto Assets proposed
✅ An Innovation Exemption introduced
✅ Guidance on tokenized securities
✅ An SEC interpretation addressing crypto assets and investment contracts

In other words 👉 The SEC isn't treating crypto as a temporary regulatory issue.

It is building a broader framework around an asset class Atkins says has grown from a niche market into a multi-trillion-dollar industry.

He also says blockchain technology has the potential to modernize finance and argues onchain markets should not be pushed offshore.

The custody framework is still only a proposal, but Atkins says more is coming.
