Maryland Governor Wes Moore is highlighting the state’s four historically Black colleges and universities during National HBCU Week.

In a post recognizing the week, Moore celebrated Bowie State University, Morgan State University, Coppin State University, and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore for their role in opening doors, developing leaders, and strengthening communities across Maryland. Maryland’s four HBCUs have continued to play a major role in expanding educational and professional opportunities for students throughout the state.

The recognition comes as the Moore-Miller Administration continues its focus on supporting Maryland’s HBCUs. The administration has reported nearly $1.34 billion in total state investment toward the state’s historically Black colleges and universities, including a nearly 60% increase in HBCU funding.
