🚨 World food prices have hit their highest level since 2022, according to the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organisation.

The war on Iran, climate disruption and El Niño risks are making it harder to grow food and more expensive to get it to people.

Fossil fuel dependence (relying on oil and gas to make fertiliser, run farm machinery and transport food) leaves farmers and families exposed to every price shock. People already struggling to afford enough to eat are being pushed further.

Peace and urgent action are needed.

Governments must help people facing hunger and rising bills, speed up the shift to decentralised renewables like wind and solar, and support farmers to grow food without depending so heavily on oil and gas.

People’s ability to put food on the table shouldn’t depend on the next oil shock.
