This is some incredible behind the scenes footage of Alabama’s National Championship 🔥

On January 8, 2018, Alabama defeated Georgia 26-23 in overtime in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Alabama trailed 13-0 at halftime before head coach Nick Saban replaced starting quarterback Jalen Hurts with freshman Tua Tagovailoa to begin the second half.

Hurts completed 3 of 8 passes for 21 yards and rushed for 47 yards on 6 carries in the first half. Tagovailoa completed 14 of 24 passes for 166 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception, adding 27 rushing yards on 12 carries. He threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Calvin Ridley to tie the game at 20-20 in the fourth quarter.

In overtime, Georgia took a 23-20 lead on a 51-yard field goal by Rodrigo Blankenship. Tagovailoa was sacked for a 16-yard loss on Alabama’s first play before throwing a 41-yard game-winning touchdown to DeVonta Smith on 2nd-and-26. Alabama secured its fifth national championship under Saban, who won his sixth career national title. Tagovailoa was named the game’s Offensive MVP.
