When people visit Eisenach for the Wartburg but miss this gorge just south of town 🐉🌿

Dragon Gorge (Drachenschlucht) is a canyon with moss-covered rock walls so close together you can almost touch both sides, and at its narrowest it’s only about 68 cm (just over 2 feet) wide. A stream runs right under your feet, covered by metal grates so you stay dry the whole way 💧 It’s named after a legend that a dragon once lived in its damp passages, and it truly feels like walking through a fairytale.

📍 Drachenschlucht, Eisenach, Thuringia
🥾 About 2.5 km, roughly 1.5 hrs uphill or 1 hr downhill
🚗 Park at Mariental or Hohe Sonne, both on the B19
⚠️ The gorge can close after storms, heavy rain, or ice, so check with the Eisenach tourist office before you go
