Turns out the daughter who is just like me isn’t my “karma” she’s actually my healing. 

Cali girl turned 4 yesterday and I took a lot of time to reflect on my motherhood journey with her. 

I was terrified of having a girl because people always warned me that she would be the karma of my past. That since I was difficult or hard that I would be given a daughter who was the same. And while I know people say it as a joke, I did take it to heart. And I worried.

I loved being a boy mom and really hoped she would be a boy. And then she was born. 
And they said
 “it’s a girl” 
words I thought I wouldn’t want to hear, but the over abundance of joy I felt in that moment showed me that she was a gift. Not karma. 

She was sent to me to heal me in ways I never could have imagined. 

And over the past 4 years of being her mom, she has taught me so much. 

She has softened me,
Healed me,
She has shown me a love I never could have known. 
She teaches me strength,
And confidence,
Resilience,
And kindness. 

I am forever grateful to have a daughter and for the privilege of being able to raise her.
