A former senior CIA official has pleaded guilty to wire fraud after prosecutors say he abused his position to defraud the federal government of approximately $194 million.

#DavidRush, 49, allegedly created fake classified government programs that allowed him to obtain luxury Florida properties and hundreds of gold bars worth more than $40 million. Authorities say he planned to resell the properties for personal profit and also spent more than $1.8 million on private flights at the government’s expense.

Investigators later searched Rush’s Virginia home and reportedly found about 300 gold bars, $2 million in cash and roughly 35 luxury watches.

Rush also admitted to giving a foreign government official information identifying a secret U.S. government source. Prosecutors additionally accused him of lying about his education and military background, including falsely claiming he was a Navy pilot and had degrees from Clemson University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
