My whole life I thought I would only be able to heal flip when skateboarding after trying countless kickflips for about six years. so many times I had to walk away from it and the hardest thing for me to do is walk away when I am determined to learn something. on September 28 at @danthemancina house I decided to start messing around and trying it once again, there is a few other Blind skaters around along with George Leichtweis from Modern Skate who were giving me tips. So many times I got so close and it finally felt possible again after trying it for about 250 tries. I decided to take a break and everyone was getting ready to leave. I stepped on my board one more time and landed a kickflip like I had been doing it my whole life. It was crazy and no one could believe it, the best part was no one was filming! I felt so fulfilled, and I felt like I just overcame a huge mountain in my life, not to mention it was my late brother Oliver’s birthday. I thought my work was done until DAN walked up to me because he was inside when it happened and said you have to do two to make it true and we will chill here all night until it happens. My favorite part about skateboarding is the camaraderie between you and a friend when you are trying something and they will patiently wait there forever until it happens supporting you the whole way. This started at around 5 PM and at 7:45 PM after getting so close so many times and then getting so far away from it at the same time with Dan’s Support, I finally landed my second kickflip ever the celebration was amazing. I guess what I’m trying to say is never give up on your goals no matter how far away they seem you just have to keep going and never give up.
