In honor of #WorldTeachersDay, we’re giving flowers to the educators who help shape who we become. 📓🍎✏️

Native New Yorker Jasiah Powers turned his lens towards teachers of color for an intentional project celebrating the educators whose impact reaches far beyond the classroom. Representation matters everywhere, but there is something especially powerful about seeing it at the front of the classroom.

Black teachers can be mentors, advocates, and living examples of possibility for the students who see themselves in them. For every lesson taught from a textbook, there are countless others about confidence, identity, resilience and believing you belong in every room you enter. Today, we celebrate the teachers who saw something in us, poured into us and left lessons we carried long after leaving their classrooms.

Who is a teacher you’ll never forget or a teacher you know that is making an impact? Tag them and give them their flowers in the comments.
