DoorDash just officially launched their drone delivery program.

It’s called DoorDash Air.

And this is going to completely change how food gets delivered in the future.

Customers can now place orders that fly straight from the restaurant and land directly in your yard.

Now the big perk is that these drones can fly over top of the traffic, so on average, order flight time is just 5 minutes.

These drones are extremely quiet and you can actually watch the drone’s route via a flyover visualization as it gets delivered.

The service is just starting to roll out in select markets (“in the coming months”) with companies like Chipotle and Popeyes, but this is a peek into the future of cutting edge logistics and delivery.

Now in addition to drones, DoorDash also announced several new AI features that make ordering much more personalized and dynamic.

The biggest one is called Text DoorDash.

This allows you to have a text conversation directly with DoorDash to order your food.

You could say something like, “My mom is in town this weekend. She loves pasta, but doesn’t like seafood. Order us dinner for Saturday night.”

DoorDash now has a personalized AI memory layer that knows exactly where you live and what you like based on past order history, and all the restaurants available to you at that moment.

It can automatically find the perfect meal, list it out for you, and place the order instantly.

This same approach now can be used for ordering groceries and even group dinners…simple text descriptions in, orders ready to go in seconds.

And it all works so well because of the new agentic ordering layer they’re rolling out.

All of this and a bunch of other updates were just announced at their Dash Forward event.

And this is going to completely change the way delivery works in the future.
