One of Boston’s biggest fall traditions is almost here.

The Head of the Charles Regatta returns October 16–18, bringing thousands of rowers to the Charles River for what has grown into the world’s largest three-day rowing regatta.

You don’t need to know anything about rowing to make a day of it. Watching is completely free, with spectators lining the river and bridges throughout the three-mile course between Boston and Cambridge.

The event has been a Boston tradition since 1965, and race weekend now brings together athletes and spectators from around the world.

If you’re going, public transit is definitely the move. Parking around the Charles gets extremely limited during the weekend.

By the way, we have a weekly newsletter rounding up what’s worth doing and knowing about in Boston. One newsletter. Once a week. Link in bio.
