½ medium yellow onion, finely diced
½ tsp kosher salt
¼ tsp black pepper
¼ tsp garlic powder
¼ tsp onion powder
4 slices American cheese

Sandwiches

2 hero/sub rolls, about 8–10 inches each
2 tbsp mayonnaise
2 tbsp ketchup
1–1½ cups shredded iceberg lettuce
1 medium tomato, thinly sliced
