Two Romanian nationals today for swapping people's real jewelry for fake chains.

According to one victim from Valley Stream, Long Island, the man and woman asked her for directions to a BJ's Wholesale from their car. The woman then got out of the car to thank the victim and hugged her, gifting her one necklace.

As she pretended to place the new necklace on the victim's neck, she actually placed two fake ones, stealing the victim's real necklace.

After the suspects drove away, the victim realized her real necklace, which was real gold and valued at over $2,000, had been stolen.

The suspects have also been tied to two other similar thefts on Long Island. They have been charged with three counts of grand larceny each.
