Former Arizona Wildcats guard Kerr Kriisa pleaded guilty Thursday to one federal count of wire fraud in connection with a scheme prosecutors say began while he was playing at the University of Arizona.

Kriisa, 25, an Estonian national, admitted that in February 2026 he emailed a victim while posing as a person named “Irene” and demanded $9,000 to avoid litigation and publicity over a financial dispute. He entered the plea under a plea agreement in federal court in Clarksburg, West Virginia.

Prosecutors say the scheme dates back to at least 2022 and involved nearly $2.2 million from two victims. The indictment alleges Kriisa repeatedly sought payments, posed as other people, including family members, directed one victim to send money to the other under false pretenses, and signed a false agreement promising to repay a victim $100,000. Those allegations come from the indictment, and Kriisa’s plea covers a single count.

Kriisa played three seasons at Arizona from 2020 to 2023, then at West Virginia, Kentucky and Cincinnati. He is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 22.
