A Tempe restaurant is offering a reward after a deer head was taken off its wall.

Night Owl Pizza & Drinks says a man took the mount from its bathroom hallway on Monday, Sept. 21, and that surveillance video shows it. Operating partner Logan Purser says the man came in, had a few beers, closed out his tab, waited for a shift change and left while the host stepped away to grab someone’s to-go order.

The mount has sentimental value. It originally belonged to the grandfather of one of the restaurant’s partners before it ended up on the wall at Night Owl. The restaurant is offering a $250 gift card and merchandise to anyone who helps get it back. It has posted images of the man on social media and says it has filed a report with Tempe police. No one has been identified.

Purser says the artwork and trinkets on the walls are anchored down, but people trying to walk off with things isn’t unusual. Other items have gone missing over time and some were eventually returned. This time, he says, nothing had turned up as of nearly two weeks after the theft.

Night Owl’s Tempe location opened in November 2025 at 2700 S. Mill Ave., in the building that was home to Riazzi’s Italian Garden for 27 years. It is the second location for the concept, which started in south Scottsdale in 2023.

Anyone with information can contact Tempe police or the restaurant.
