His wife had just given birth to their second child when she couldn’t reach him 💔

Ryan Brown was found unresponsive at his Mesa home in December 2024 while his wife was still in the hospital. He passed away after taking illegal substances sold to him by James Amalfi, according to prosecutors.
Amalfi, 45, has now been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter.

Two days after Brown’s passing, Amalfi texted him offering to sell him more, prosecutors said.

At sentencing, Brown’s father described a son who survived two open-heart surgeries, earned a master’s degree, became a senior aerospace engineer and built a family before having his future taken away.

Co-defendant Athena Doornbos, 27, is scheduled to face trial in October and remains in custody on a $250,000 bond. Her case is still pending.

Do you think 20 years is the right sentence? 👇
