Arizona investigators used GPS-tracked packages to help crack an investigation into mail reportedly disappearing from mailboxes across the Verde Valley. 📦👀

After receiving multiple reports of stolen mail and packages, Camp Verde investigators placed GPS trackers inside packages with homeowners’ permission. On August 11, one of those packages was taken and tracked to a Camp Verde residence.

Investigators later stopped a white Kia and say they found suspected stolen mail, merchandise, IDs and financial cards inside. A search of a residence connected to the investigation also turned up additional property, multiple firearms and suspected illegal substances. One of the firearms had previously been reported stolen out of Phoenix.

57-year-old Laura Amundson of Rimrock was arrested. Her dangerous-drug possession charge has since been dismissed, while she pleaded guilty to a drug-paraphernalia charge. Authorities have said additional charges connected to the mail-theft investigation could still follow.

Imagine taking a package and finding out the police put a GPS tracker inside 😭📦
