“Though she be but little, she is fierce.”

Savvy will always be my little girl. And she is fierce. But not necessarily by the world’s definition.

She is fiercely loyal to what is good. To what is right. To her family. Her faith. And her God.

“If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.”

This is Savvy. She seeks after good things.

A good friend and owner of Royal Rut Ranch recently invited Savvy and me on an experience neither of us had ever had before: a white bison hunt.

He has been working with mtnops to support Operation Conquer Hunger by providing opportunities to harvest meat for families in need.

The hunt took us into steep, rugged terrain. Savvy was nervous. Anyone would be standing in front of an animal this big and powerful.

But when the opportunity came, she was ready. She settled in, took careful aim, and made one perfect shot.

As we walked up together, her eyes got bigger and bigger. The size. The strength. The beauty.

We put our hands on this incredible animal and took it all in. What an incredible creation of God.

Moments like this in the outdoors make me feel small in the best way. They remind me how big and beautiful God’s creations and His plan are and how blessed we are to experience them.

Then came the part that may mean the most. The meat from this one animal, harvested by this little girl, will help fill the freezers of FIVE families in need.

One animal. Five families. Food on tables. Meat in freezers. Prayers answered. I hope Savvy remembers that for the rest of her life. I know I will.

I’m so proud of my Savvylicious. Proud of her courage. Proud that she wants to experience life and adventure. Proud that she recognizes God’s hand in it all. Proud that her heart is drawn toward what is good.

Most of all, I’m grateful God gave me the privilege of being her dad.

Savvy, you are fierce.

Fiercely loyal to what is right, true, virtuous, lovely, of good report and praiseworthy.

Keep seeking after these things. Keep seeing God in the adventure, and you’ll keep conquering.

No matter how big you get, you’ll always be my little girl.
