“And they made ready the passover.” (Luke 22:13)

Before the Savior instituted the sacrament, He asked His disciples to go and prepare a place.

Today I had the opportunity to help clean our chapel before the Sabbath. To some it may just look like another building. But to me and my family, these walls and this building are sacred.

Within these walls I have blessed and baptized my children. Confirmed them members of the churchofjesuschrist . Ordained my son to the priesthood and watched as he carries out his priesthood responsibilities. Watched daughters be set apart as missionaries and representatives of Jesus Christ and His restored gospel. Served, worshipped, witnessed, repented, learned, taught, wept, and felt the strengthening power of the Savior again and again. 

But above all else, each Sunday within these walls I partake of the sacrament of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. With one small piece of bread, a cup of water and a heart turned to Him I renew my covenants, and remember the mercy, grace, peace, and power only He can give.

So today while mopping floors, wiping counter tops and toilets, I couldn’t help but think about preparing a sacred place for souls to come unto Christ through a covenant connection.

As a child we would sing “Saturday is a special day, it’s the day we get ready for Sunday”. It is so true. 

Grateful for the house of the Lord. Grateful for the Sabbath. Grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ.
